Artwork I created for the endpapers of ‘Alistair Grim’s Odditorium’ written by Gregory Funaro and published by Disney Hyperion.
Happy new year! Hope you all had a great break.
So it’s been a good start to the year so far, with my brother visiting from California…and also bringing with him my copy of Spectrum 21. I had two pieces accepted into the book - the cover of Loki’s Wolves and another cover for The School Magazine. It’s my first time in the publication so it was really exciting to see this in print!
Over the past year I’ve been illustrating new covers for Christopher Pike’s SPOOKSVILLE series. Originally published in the 90s, the first two books have just been re-released by Simon & Schuster this week! Here are the covers for ‘The Secret Path’ and ‘The Howling Ghost’.
Cover art for The Zoo at the Edge of the World, written by Eric Kahn Gale and published by Balzer & Bray (an imprint of Harper Collins).
The wraparound cover artwork for MOUSEHEART. This is the start of a new middle grade series written by Lisa Fiedler and illustrated by me. It’s an epic animal adventure set in the subway tunnels of Brooklyn, New York and was so much fun to illustrate. I also created 15 black and white illustrations and a map. Check out www.Mouseheart.com for more info
Cover art for The School Magazine, Orbit issue #3. Illustrated for the story ‘The Clever Sun and Moon’ written by the lovely Melissa Marr.
Randi Rhodes, Ninja Detective is out today! It’s written by the multi-talented Octavia Spencer and published by Simon & Schuster. I created the cover illustration working with art director Chloe Foglia (who also designed the text for the final cover). There are 10 black and white illustrations inside as well.
When I first read the book I couldn’t believe my luck. Along with solving crimes, Randi and her friend D.C. are BIG martial arts fans (they study Tae Kwon Do but love all the classic Kung Fu films). Thanks to an older brother, I was pretty much raised on a steady diet of martial arts movies and studied Kung Fu as a kid. I never once thought it would have anything to do with my illustration work. It made it so much fun bringing these characters to life!
It’s squirrel happy hour! #inktober
Taking part in #inktober. Going to be a crazy month ahead so this might just be a weekly thing!
